This work looks at the threat of Islamic extremism in Bangladesh in 2005 and was done on assignment for the New York Times Magazine. During that time, there were demonstrations against the Amahdiyya Muslim communities who were viewed as heretics by some mainstream Muslims. Hindus were and other non-Muslims were also being threatened and tortured by groups of thugs and women in a very rural parts of the country were being pressured to wear burkas.
